My Daily Routines
Very early in the morning my mom and dad leave the house to go hunting, but as a naturally born leader I do not mind being in command while they are gone. As soon as they leave, I start looking for the goodie-goodies they have hidden all over the house for me, and then I spend the rest of the day watching the house.
My dad sometimes works at home and as you can see in this picture he often watches the house with me.
When they return to the house, I am always very excited to see what they have killed. Some days they bring me meat and vegetables, but sometimes they come home empty-handed. In that case I always pretend not to notice their lack of success. They try hard, and very often the prey is satisfactory.
Now it is time for fun and play for the next hour or two. I take them for a walk in the wood or we go to the beach, where I have taught them to play fetch, i.e. I bark at them, and they throw a stick into the water, and sometimes I swim out and fetch it.
Here I am waiting for my mom to throw a piece of rope into the water.
But I won't fetch that one. I was designed to swim in quiet lakes, not in the open sea.
I also have quite a few outdoor activities of my own to attend to. I am a brilliant contractor and I spent my first year with my humans trying to make them realize the importance of re-arranging the garden, thereby knowing exactly what is beneath the lawn. I have to admit that in this case confrontations seemed inevitable, but finally we came to an agreement. I was granted a piece of the land provided I kept my excavations there.
Relaxing in my building site. As a true gentleman I do my utmost to keep my activities in this place.
