是的,逗号不能连接两个简单句,分号可以,当然连词可以.
一如：The first time I saw her,I fell in love with her.这句子一样.我们看不到连词,只看到两个句子,用了逗号连接.这怎么可以呢?
语法学家的任务是：将它纳入语法系统中去.说the first time,the moment,the minute ,这些名词词组,加上directly,immediately 这两个原本的副词,都可以当连词来用,相当于：when...for the first time (第一个）,及as soon as .,(后四个）,引导时间状语从句!

记得张道真的语法书上曾经说过,现查《Longman》：

你看,词典上也只讲到了the是副词!并没有提到连词!

注意 friends 是多数，后面的 you 也是指“你们”。

整句意思连贯，自然可以串在一起。是 the + 比较级。。。 the + 比较级的句型。

最简单的例子： The more, the better. 多多益善
