用日语假名充作英文词汇，其实并不过分，很多的日语单词已经以其假名的罗马字形式进入英文词汇表了，比如忍者啊俳句啊什么的，就连产于我国温州的蜜柑，在日本有mikan 和 satsuma 两个名字，前者尚且保留了中国发音，后者是日本本土叫法，而当该蜜柑从日本传到西方后，便只保留了satsuma这个名字，进入了英文词典。
所以，你可以想象一个稍微了解日本文化的英语母语者，在知悉彼岸花的典故后，感叹一句：

一个不知道这个东方典故的西方人，是不会说出这句话的；既然说出了这句话，何妨让自己的用词，脱离常规，应景移情？
那么，为何是日文，而不是中文呢？因为比起中国，日本更早与西方互通有无，两者互相渗透要深广得多的多。懂higanbana的西方人，我想至少是有一些的，就算不懂，上网一查就懂了，但若是说bianhua，估计，能研究明白这句话的人，太少。
