other 是泛指,没有范围的,后面加 名词 的；
another 也是泛指,无范围,指其它的任何一个,后面加 单数 .多用于购买物品时的表达,如：Please give me another book.
the other 却是特指,是有规定的范围的,后面加 名词.
我的理解，仅供参考。
other没有数量的范围要求，表示其他的，another是另一个，一般与前者是并列关系。
the other是指两个中的另一个。
other 表示其他的
another 表示没有范围的
the other 表示有确定范围的
不都是另外的嘛- -
other 表示其他的 可以作定语
another 表示没有范围的“另一个”
比方说
would you like anouther drink?
the other 表示有确定范围的“另一个”
比方说两个小孩子作比较
this boy is hard-working,the other one is lazy.
other后可接单复数
the other既可做形容词，又可做名词 。常见搭配有one.....the other.....
another 既可做形容词，又做代词，表示“另一个....”
other泛指:另一个
another:不确定的另外一个或再又的意思
the other:剩下来的,比如说 : a hand hold a baby,the other hand catch a ice-cream
