本句其实 考查的是 lest 的用法.
引导目的状语从句 意思是 以免、 免得、唯恐
从句谓语只能用should 加动词原形,有时should也可以省略.
因为should do有 万一 的意思 与将来情况可能相反 ,也就是 实现的机会不大.
lest =for fear that
而would do 没有 万一的意思 所以 lest 从句里面不能用would do
也就是 lest后面用would do 有逻辑错误 所以 语法规定 不能用would do
