Firstly,Economics Majors may face more challenges when searching for jobs,
With the world changing as much as it has,you should expect the job market to change with it.Jobs that were hot even as little as ten years ago are being replaced by others.According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) of the USA,one of those jobs that are going to go through its share of transition is economists.The demand is going to be far slower for the next ten years than it had been even recently.
The same situations occurs in China.Economics is one of the most popular fields of study at both on campus and online colleges.Because of this,it projects that many graduates coming out shortly and hoping for that government job better think otherwise.The number of openings that government provided will not meet the number of students entering the work force.The contradiction between the quality and amouts of the gradutes is apparent as the course layout is unreasonable and inefficiency of teaching,with the social practice is only on formalistic frame.
Secndly,Economics Majors must spend more time annd money to go on for an advance degree such as Master’s or MBAthan other majors and switch majors will lose too much credit.Take the second case for example,This is not good for juniors or seniors in a 4-year program,but one thing economics does have going for underclassmen is it provides a solid business foundation during the freshmen and sophomore year.A student can switch without losing too much credit,if any at all.For those thinking about post-grad work,it might not hurt to outside Economics for a Master’s or MBA in something like Market Research or some from of management core.
Last but not the least,some Economics Majors are lose hope in searching for their futures,they complain about themselves,others and the even society ,why the govern not cutting their personnel?why the Banks are not recovering fasterly?why there are far fewer think tanks etc.But they forget the fact that Economists are trained to project the future.Put that training to work,and you’ll set up a good one for yourself one way or another.
